The Georgia Vocal Project,
Inc. is a 24-member ensemble of professional and semi-professional singers who perform classical, sacred, and
jazz music. The primary goal of The Georgia Vocal Project is to promote quality ensemble singing
by rehearsing and performing music styles not currently being offered in area community groups. There are several smaller
ensembles within the organization that provide opportunities to focus on repertoire of each genre.
Cultural activity in Barrow
County is thriving with the newly formed F.A.A.B. (Fine Arts Alliance of Barrow), a non-profit organization founded by its
President, Kellie Jarvis.
The Georgia Vocal
Project provides a niche for singers who have strong sight-reading abilities and a desire to sing in a smaller chamber
ensemble. To preserve the more intricate sound of such a group, membership in the ensemble is limited to 25.
We have a core group of seven
to eight professional/semi-professional singers who perform in each repertoire selection, and an extended ensemble of singers
who perform song sets with the group as their style preference dictates. Many of the GVP singers are accomplished instrumentalists
and piano accompanists who will be featured in upcoming concerts.
A survey may be filled out
by each potential member with questions about ensemble preference, level of ability, and special performance skills (instruments
played, dance experience, anything relating to performing). We plan to perform two concerts each year, scheduled
not to conflict with seasonal church music programs/rehearsals. We may also be available for special events in the community.
